talent ::
i have a huge talent-crush on Hussein Chalayan.
a man able to make such cutting edge fashion and then become creative director of puma? the word here is versatile.
culturally curious and architecturally inclined, Chalayan never ceases to question and bring fashion into a new light.
"I bring in aspects of my world that I think are appropriate and also aspects that have nothing to do with my world, but that I think are appropriate for Puma. I am their creative director, not their designer. I give them ideas. So far Puma is recognized as a footwear company. They have created an identity through their footwear and not through their clothes. I am trying to create an identity for their clothes as well."- Chalayan in an interview with Hint Magazine.

pierre x gap ::
the gaps continued collaborations with balenciaga shoe designer Pierre Hardy will certainly be a must for me. the last line, which i wasn't impressed with, went for under $98, which is a stretch from the designers typical price range.
having originally launched product for the franchises european stores, pierre has a lot to prove
:: judging by this nylon preview, he should have no issues..available in August.

Anna ::
the 60 minutes interview with Anna Wintour aired this last week on cbs.
while the interview focused on fashion, dreams and vogue...it also never failed to mention, over and over, Anna as the bitch, Anna as the influence behind the Devil Wears Prada, etc.
where's her praise? i mean really... how many times can the word bitch be used and then discussed?
watch the video on youtube here.
:: p.s. the interviewers commentary on the tailoring of the designers he interviews about Anna is absolutely hilarious... and worth watching the 15 minute interview for...

homage ::
Chanel's Resort '10 was presented as an experiential show on the boardwalk along the Venice Lido.
the mood changed when "early Coco" emerged down the boardwalk (this time in heels) in crisp white and black sailor inspired looks.
slip dresses with the iconic Coco Chanel logo ::
and then...there was tweed. classic coco, with a twist. chunky necklaces and open toed booties, not quite distraction enough from the revealing black tops ::
350 guests watched from sun beds as Lagerfield's creations were revealed. hats and cloaks covered tiny, corseted "could- be" lingerie as bathing suits.
there is still amazement on my part that the first models to take the runway were both strutting in classic Chanel silhouettes while in barefeet.

cottons and knits emerged, in bold deep colors accented with covetable accent pieces. i love the hat box/purse (?) Jourdan Dunn has her claws on::

Lagerfield's homage to the inspiration that was Coco was well thought out. the collection, hair and make-up really took this show to another era.
love.
