shanghai mix ::

Chanel pre-fall 2010 :: shanghai

this was the most confused/mixed collection from Chanel that i have ever seen. usually, there's a theme and it's followed through on point- along with classic Chanel. the theme was evident, shanghai's history and elegance.

i was surprised by the use of yellow (especially in the knee high boots- love them) and red throughout this collection. aside from the boots, the shoes were nothing to note. although the feel was very shanghai nights, someone it was also coupled with a bit of a custo barcelona inspired graphics and metallics- strange. karl still managed to bring in the classic chanel tweed and make it work though, thankfully.

:: karl also managed to, yet again, only use male model Baptiste Giacobe as his only male model. this time he walked alone.

new face ::

dutch model lara stone is set to replace madonna as the face of louise vuitton. thank god, because those ads bored me to death (no offense, love mag, but she is not the ideal spokesmodel for anyone...i know they're friends and she brings in $$ but she can't realllly be marc jacobs ideal symbol of lv, right?).

:: lara, however, is perfect. the first ads come out in february- can't wait!

"Because the collection loosely took its cues from the idea of the New Age traveler, we decided to create a green, outdoorsy set that would evoke a spirit of peace and love," Vuitton designer Marc Jacobs tells Vogue UK. "To model the clothes, we wanted a modern, iconic, sexy beauty... It had to be Lara Stone."

rookie ::

i am absolutely amazed by 13 year old tavi of Style Rookie. she is teeny tiny, but her vocabulary and grasp of the fashion world amazes even the most style saavy.

this girl has become friends with designers through her blog, thus leading to being given front row seats at fashion week, requests of designers to come backstage and has been flown across the world for events...imagine where she will be at 18. watch out.

:: i love her in this nicholas kirkwood for rodarte platform chrome heels.

:: tavi interviews editors and stylists for the roadarte for h&m collection (available December 20th in stores and online!) as well as the mulleavy sisters themselves. view the video below, and read the interview with laura, kate and tavi on style.com.

pre-wang ::

Alexander Wang pre-fall 2010. although he hasn't strayed from black/white/grey, mesh and narrow silhouettes, Wang has given his buyers something that they can wear to work in confidence.
