Louis Vuitton F/W 2010 ::

Marc Jacobs presented a curvy collection on a set of curv (ier) models. the collection was very 50's mom, or a sexed up version...there were corsets, high waisted A- line skirts, tight fitting lapeled blazers. i believe this collection was made with Scarlett Johanson in mind.

:: many of the models were from the pages of Victorias Secret and oh, Elle McPherson closed the show in a pink strapless gown.

:: the shoes...amazing. thick heel, pointy toe, big fat flat bow; bags were a take on the classics..i love the black leather speedy- such a better look than the typical patterns.

Alexander McQueen F/W 2010 ::

the design team at Alexander McQueen kept the designers last presentation small and intimate. minimal press were invited and shown 16 looks, 80% of which were cut and worked on by Lee's own hands before he took his own life in February.

:: the looks all focused on art from the Byzantine Empire :: shown in rich red, gold and ivory all of the hand-crafted pieces had intricate, ornate details. the influential art was entwined through the fabric. the black and metallic detailed pumps and knee high leather boots were an extension of the design of the clothing. the accessories were binding, from the heavy bracelets to the extended metal chokers and each of the different head coverings, including one with a detailed mohawk look that corresponded to the chokers, giving off the brit-punk feel that the designer has been well known for.

:: Lee will be missed and deeply mourned, but thankfully for his fans he will forever live on through fashion. this collection kept to his aesthetic and his vision and will be a great addition to his genius legacy.

Sarah Burton, his right hand, described how, in beginning this collection, McQueen had turned away from the world of the Internet, which he had so powerfully harnessed in his last show. "He wanted to get back to the handcraft he loved, and the things that are being lost in the making of fashion," she said. "He was looking at the art of the Dark Ages, but finding light and beauty in it. He was coming in every day, draping and cutting pieces on the stand." The 16 outfits shown had been 80 percent finished at the time of his death.

Chanel F/W 2010 ::

for Chanel's fall RTW collection Karl Lagerfeld hauled- literally, it had to be hauled- a 265-ton iceberg from Sweden to complete his ideal look and feel for the Paris runway presentation.

faux fur was seen in full suits, boots with ice block heels, bootie shorts and bags...CC logo's were stamped in for good measure, and white was abundant as the models stomped through the holes in the iceberg and the water off the melting glacier.

:: the collection included classic Chanel tweed, knits and accessories (which were focused on the "ice" theme as well as rocks) and yet more than enough faux fur was found entwined and weaved into many unlikely places.

Stella McCartney F/W 2010 ::

Stella McCartney started her show to a fake recorded version of the Tiger Woods voicemail left on his mistresses voicemail. Why? who knows.

:: the collection was the best Stella has to offer: clean, wearable, sleek, feminine. i love her take on stripes, with black and cream, and her use of charcoal work wear throughout the collection helped round out the elegant cocktail dresses draped in mesh.

Celine F/W 2010 ::

since Phoeobe Philo took over at the eponymous line Celine last season, critics have been appeased.

her fall collection showed in Paris to, according to numerous sources, most of the women (i.e. editors, stylists, celebrities) in the crowd already donning pieces from the collection.

:: she stuck to basics, but kept it fresh with mesh, leather, offset buttons and the most gorgeous navy wool jacket with a ruffle flutter sleeve.

John Galliano F/W 2010 ::

John Galliano's Fall collection revolved around a tribe of wandering nomads : bronzed, uni-browed with styled hair, these nomads were outfitted in outerwear, sleek dresses and gowns. and the hats...from giant fur to an I dream of Jeanie type cap, they contended with the hair of the other models.

:: the runway was black, with white lighting shining in the background to light up the falling (fake) snow. very much an over the top show. oh, and there were fireworks during Galliano's bow.

Karl Lagerfeld F/W 2010 ::

Karl Lagerfeld introduced a thin patent leather in his F/W 2010 collection. shown in both black and silver, he used this fabric in layering: leg binding skirts worn over leggings, worn with numerous tailored suit jackets often including details in the same shiny material.

:: the fabric was used as a headband as well, holding back the models hair to create the big beehive up-do. beauty wise, the faces were clean with a tinted deep red lip, leaving room to observe the clothing.

Martin Maison Margiela F/W 2010 ::

since Margiela has left his own label, the supporting design team has stepped up to carry on with his genius. luckily, they chose to carry on with classic margiela styles- inverted pyramid shapes as seen in the trousers, form fitting layers underneath voluminous jackets and over sized sleeves. they stuck to the staples, black, grey, red and beige and a large focal point was on coats.

:: i love the grey ankle length skirt, which is a mini and a long skirt all at the same time by use of the extended chiffon...but really, what is that fur trap on the last models head?

Viktor & Rolf F/W 2010 ::

Viktor and Rolf put on a full theatrical show to present their Fall RTW collection for "Glamour Factory" where the backdrop was tools in various metallics. 90's model Kristen McMenamy came out in 9 layers of clothing only for the designers to follow her out, undress her piece by piece and re-dress the following crystal-encrusted, leotard wearing models.

pieces were zipped off, pulled up, and pulled to cinch at the waist with a drawstring. and after that...it reversed. good thing Kristen was not a waif, as she states the clothing was almost 3 times her body weight.

Christian Dior F/W 2010 ::

John Galliano's F/W 2010 collection for Christian Dior followed up on his equestrian theme from the Couture show :: the collection was romantic and styled beautifully. the models voluminous hair, fishtail braids, dramatic eyes, and pretty red cheeks and lips.

i loved the tiny chiffon dresses that seemed to live to perfectly under the jackets and on top of the over the knee brown and grey boots.

Gareth Pugh F/W 2010 ::

this collection speaks for it self.

::the tailoring and twisting leather, and the chainmail dress and details...all literally capped off with a black shiny headpiece. ah.

Yohji Yamamoto F/W 2010 ::

Yohji Yamamoto presented a collection focused on black, navy and ivory- all thrown in on jackets, dresses that looked like jackets, dresses that looked like men's shirts and nipple baring lace pieces.

asymmetrical hems and pleated skirts ran the show, all stomped through on models with blue and orange netted hair and flat lace-up rubber boots (basic rain boot= love).

Haider Ackermann F/W 2010 ::

Haider Ackermann's F/W collection was all about layers, volume and zippers- classic seduction.

:: sweaters. lace. leather leggings. big collars. long skirts with slits. all of the pieces were ready to wear and wardrobe work-able.

Rick Owens F/W 2010 ::

Rick Owens...i just love this man, love his personal style, and love the looks he sends down the runway. for fall 2010 he sent his models down the runway in slicked back to the temple hair, triangle grey tights, assymetrical skirts and tunics, zippered calf grazing vests and furry detailed elbow length gloves (ok, i could do without those). he brought in metallics as well, and cleopatra styled gold headpieces, falling down both sides of the body; this strange mix, and yet it all worked.

Peter Copping's presentation for Nina Ricci, his first at the helm of the design house, was romantic, detailed and flawlessly feminine. safe. who knows what the former LV designer will come up with when he finally feels comfortable enough to try. eyes open.

Dior Homme ::

designer Kris Van Assche took Dior Homme's signature skinny everything mentality (thanks to past creative director Hedi Slimane) to the next level for 2010. short, loose, drop crotched (but still relatively slim) pants and excess fabric jackets were shown in shades of black, if thats possible, with a fresh pop of all white spread throughout the collection.

the looks were layered and portrayed an extremely full collection. form fitting jackets, skinny ties and pointy black shoes finished out the looks, and the models hair stuck to the messy askew form.

Alexander McQueen ::

McQueen's Fall 2010 men's collection presented in Milan in January was, simpyl put, all about prints. the backdrop to the run was print, the runway itself was print, the fabrics, masks (masks?), the bags...all print. and all different prints, from paisley to striped to an almost painted on look, McQueen mixed and matched the entire collection.

i have to say, i love the grey sweater with the skull weaved in. amazing.

Junya Watanabe ::

Tokyo designer Junya Watanabe's rolled out a clean, vintage inspired collection of menswear for his men's fall 2010 show in paris last month. the mix of fabrics, textures, and colors were tied in to make a clean collection by his seemingly determined use of hats, ties and jackets.

and the formfitting jackets, above anything else, were to be seen. and seen they were :: see Kanye back there on the right? the grey short wool coat with black shoulder pieces, wool coats long waxy black jackets, structured suit jackets with leather affixed to the arms.

Dries Van Noten

the Belgian designer brought out jackets, belts, cropped pants and navy for his fall 2010 men's collection. there was plenty of mixed fabrics, and mixing of navy and cognac leather accessories- really aesthetically pleasing for the eye, and very scott schuman, especially as the show was done during the day and the light is streaming in- very street style.

i love the way he creates a very sophisticated look out of a seemingly casual outfit: olive slacks and a heather grey long sleevecrew necks with black cuffs. oh and is that in all of the models right hands??? i am perplexed... comments please.

Katy Perry interviews Karl Lagerfeld for Elle.com backstage during his namesake collection's S/S 2010 collection runway show.

McQ ::

Alexander McQueen's S/S 2010 collection, titled "Plato's Atlantis", was thought out from tip of the models scale-like ridged braids, aquatic feel and flow of the mini dresses, ice blue make-up and prosthetic scales and to the crustacean-like platform shoes.

Showstudio began the show with Nick Knight's video footage of naked model Raquel Zimmerman's in sand with snakes slithering over her body.

the sea-monster beauties made there way down the runway in between large industrial camera's, as the collection slowly changed from brown and green reptile prints to deeper blues and aqua sea patterns as the music changed, and the models and the fabrics swayed in unison as if they were truly under water :: Raquel Zimmerman's tiny form moved in blues below pounds of snakes on the screen.
