what's in a name? ::

Jason Denham has been working with denim for 15 years (ex. making custom pieces of U2 back in 92 with Joe Caseley-Hayford). his extensive work in the industry has inspired his own signature collection titled "the truth is in the details".

check out Denham the Jeanmaker and his Spring/Summer 09 line.

produced in Italy and Japan by a sake maker/denim tailor named Hiro, who gifted 100 bottles of Denham branded Sake for the store's opening launch in January (the first family sake to leave Japan in over 7 generations) complete's Denham the Jeanmakers first collection.

the unique story behind Hiro's life and his involvement with the brand add an authentic aura to the company. the Sake packaging is ridiculous. love it.

the Denham Design House opened in January in the "9 Streets" area of Amsterdam.

the use of scissors from id to wall mounts to carefully displayed vintage pieces in the museum set-up of the store amaze me. great attention to detail and a well thought out piece.

get your OWN ::

Harputs Own started from a humble beginning...

30 years ago in Oakland, CA it all started with Harputs adidas, selling adidas sneakers and merchandise. it has since transitioned. a couple of times. the first phase was the emergence of Harputs Market, stocking hard to find designers such as Martin Margiela, Yohji Yamamoto, and Stephan Schneider. it became apparent that it was the right time to begin making quality garments of their own; thus, Harputs Own came to light.

my favorite pieces?

the swacket (mix of jacket and sweater, which can be worn numerous ways and is available online in several colors)

and the skirtall. adorable.

"We take a pragmatic approach to design, concentrating on the development of select "generic" garments (a shift dress, sweater, overall) as statement pieces. Our creative process leans on curiosity and experimentation in conjunction with the various influences that inform our work: how each garment ages, how our customers react, and what new fabric we find... Ultimately, we aim to make easy clothing that can be worn multiple ways, accentuate many different body types, and last several seasons." -Harputs

candy girls ::

the Gossip Girl cast whipped out the sweets for their spread in the newest issue of Rolling Stone Magazine.

fashion photographer Terry Richardson's props, i.e. candy, ice cream, feathers and sheets kept the cast happy. note...they are too beautiful for their own good.

model, writer, consultant, stylist, muse...she's done it all, been everywhere. Vogue is Vogue. it can never be wrong per se, but with Carine it is always so right.

Hedi Slimane, ma vie ::

mens creative director at Dior Homme for Christian Dior, Hedi Slimane was named 2002's international designer of the year. Leaving the fashion house in 2007 and turning down countless job offers since in fear of losing rights to his identity and name, he has made that name notorious by his own fashion lines, art shows, and *sigh* his photography.

inspirational b&w images below.

Courtney Love never looked so good.

peruvian ::

Roberto Cavalli's A/W 2008/09 collection is captured by photographers Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin for the latest advertising campaign.

images via Haute Fashion.

the deep greens and greys and the mist rising from the ground and through the shadows of the winter bitten trees create a subtle background for the garments on the foreground for this "peruvian" collection advert.

this campaign took more than a few steps away from his fashion houses typical animal print on scantilly clad Kate Moss model in the sun/studio norm.
