simple, soft dresses with beautiful draping necklines and layers.

the boys also used earth-friendly technology on their lake and sunset prints (shot by Costello in Brooklyn), according to style.com, working with AirDye (a company that has found a way to print fabric without using water).

the accessories and embellished pieces on the runway really spoke of the beauty of the collection. in my opinion there were some odd, not so thought-out pieces, but in the end it was a noteworthy collection. they can't go wrong with gowns and feathers. perfection.

Alexander Wang Spring 2010.

simply off the charts. i don't know what it was about this collection that drew me in, it was truly all over the place and yet somehow it was all closely tied together.

very high school pride :: very much how i wish i could have dressed in high school. sigh.

sweatshirt material was used throughout the collection on sportsbra influenced tummy baring tops and cropped sweatshirts, knee-high athletic socks, big football padded shoulders and sweat bands rounded out the obvious; copious amounts of khaki and denim finished out the school-time vibe.

A didn't disappoint his faithful few, throwing in his signature body concious styles, slashed mini dresses, mesh, and black. the thick messy braids hanging over the models shoulders didn't hurt either. approval.

2010 ::

The theme has been announced for the 2010 Costume Institute Gala at the Met, "American Woman : Fashioning a National Identity", revolving around 75- ish outfits based on "how the American woman initiated style revolutions that mirrored her social, political, and sexual emancipation" according to Fashionologie.

This year's gala will of course be hosted by Anna Wintour, with GAP's Patrick Robinson and Oprah Winfrey as co-hosts.

Recently appointed Vogue director of special events, Sylvanna Soto-Ward, will be heading up this event :: my ideal job. sigh.

local ::

Harvard has signed on to a 10-year licensing agreement for a preppy clothing line, according to the NYT.

The line will be available in February in major department stores under the name "Harvard Yard", and while the company Wearwolf (a private tailored menswear company out of NYC) will not embed any obvious "H" emblems, they will play up the crimson theme on the button-hole stitching and details throughout the pieces.

A University spokesman told the NYT that they originally began branding their own clothing in the 80's to help fund financial aid, and that the Universities collections now generate $500,000/year.

:: Note:: Seeing the lines that crowd outside of the Harvard COOP in the mornings, and the outrageous price tag for a Jansport Harvard T, I feel that this number really is far higher.

SHOWStudio's Nick Knight has teamed up with Alexander McQueen and Puma to premier two new projects during Spring/Summer 2010 Milan Men's Fashion Week. They are now offering young creative filmmakers, artists and directors the opportunity to create a video of their own in the RAW POWER film competition from splicing their own film from the footage shot by Knight in the "Crane vs. Tiger" shoot for the S/S 2010 McQueen X Puma Campaign.
