news ::

after much speculation in the media it was officially announced that Giles Deacon will head up Emanuel Ungaro. the british designer will take over as the fifth designer of the fashion house in five years, according to Fashionista.

the last designer duo of Estrella Archs and Lindsay Lohan, well, flopped..in heart shaped pasties. let's hope the talented Giles can pick up the pieces of the struggling label in time.

:: side note, i love Giles Deacons style. are there any Giles lookbook blogs out there? hm...post to follow.

McQueen to continue... ::

it has been announced that Alexander McQueen's fashion label will continue on in his absence.

:: the designer, who committed suicide at the beginning of NYFW last week, can never be replaced... but the Gucci group, who owns 51% of the company, will continue on under the McQueen name.

From the New York Times--

""PPR, the French luxury group with a controlling stake in the designer’s companies, said that it planned to build on the McQueen brand. François-Henri Pinault, its president, said: “The Alexander McQueen trademark will live on. This would be the best tribute that we could offer to him.”

Mr Pinault said that the decision to maintain the label was taken quickly after McQueen’s death and voiced confidence that the fashion house continues to hold “very important potential”.

catch up::

i was so caught up these last couple of weeks, and there's so much to catch up on...

first off, something that i have been reading/hearing/seeing everywhere...the VT private school students who got caught, two weeks prior to fashion week, hacking their way into PR companies BPCM's database and sending themselves invites to shows that the firm produces. another story- an intern put them in the system. it's all still up in the air, but either way they were not officially invited.

Remy Renzullo and Becca Shumlin—daughter of Vermont State Senate President Peter Shumlin, have done this before. Last September for S/S 2010 they were even caught by the Sartorialist.

:: one source from the article told gawker ::

"We were going through the guest lists of some of our tightest shows and saw that both Remy and Becca Shumlin were on ALL of the lists and no one knew how they got there. We googled them and found Rebecca's twitter [now locked] claiming how excited she was to receive invitations to Alexander Wang, Preen, Cushnie et Ochs and Erin Fetherston shows (all which we produce). Turns out the lists were being modified by someone in Vermont (hmmm....)."

style ::

Rachel Zoe's work-a-holic styling associate Taylor Jacobson has announced after 4 years at the company that she will be leaving to style on her own, according to Fashionista.

the moody jenny-humphrey meets chanel obsessed stylist deserves a show of her own. not sure how Rachel and Brad are going to get things done without her, but i have no doubt she's going to make some style history.

share ::

Kanye West, who will be touring with Lady Gaga in the fall, admits that he won't be able to out due her in the fashion department.

""I can't compete with her, I'm a guy."

:: sure you can Yeezy, get rid of the pants and shirt. you can share being naked.

the best part of this admitted defeat? That Kanye made the comment while hosting Men.Style.com's top 25 women in fashion party with ex-Vogue intern Sean Avery. (:: whatttt?? more to come later on this front.)
