Marc Jacobs presents F/W 2010 ::

the Marc Jacobs Fall 2010 collection streamed live on the designers website last night, and while it froze on me and i missed the middle, it can only be described as legendary.

the designer and president of the company, Robert Duffy, tore down brown packing paper from a wooden framed box revealing 56 models standing in formation towards the audience. Duffy has been tweeting the progress of the prep work behind nyfw and asked followers to give set ideas. apparently, twitter = inspiration.

the audience, full of editors, buyers and bloggers specifically did not include any celebrities. the music, somewhere over the rainbow, was dreamy, tranquil and conveyed a sense of peace as the models tromped through the rows of the audience in neutral colors, soft grays and pastels. the beauty looks followed suite, soft and romantic on mostly unknown models who appeared to float.

all 56 looks were consistent and romantic, and played into the emotions. the bags presented brought in a new feel to the designers norm; ostrich and leather, brown, nude and white...fur.

the fact that jacobs invited his true followers and supporters, and did not pay any celebrities to sit front row, only adds to the designers appeal.
